Congyang received his B.Sc. with a Specialization in Chemistry and a Major in Geology from Western University, Canada, and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Western University under the supervision of Prof. Zhifeng Ding and Prof. Qiao Zhang. His doctoral research focused on understanding the interfacial properties of nanomaterials and translating these insights into applications in catalysis and luminescent materials. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Chao-Jun Li's group at McGill University, where his research focuses on developing semiconductor photocatalysts for sustainable chemical transformations.
