Postdoctoral Fellow

Anastasiia Afanasenko was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where she received her Specialist of Chemistry degree with distinction at Saint Petersburg State University (SPbU) working on the synthesis of new acyclic diaminocarbene complexes of Pt(II) under the supervision of Dr. Tatyana Chulkova and Prof. Dr. Vadim Kukushkin. She joined the research group of Prof. Dr. Katalin Barta in the field of Green Chemistry and Sustainable Catalysis at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, in October 2016 for pursuing her PhD studies and obtained her PhD degree in October 2020. During her PhD period, her research was focused on the development of novel methods in homogeneous catalysis for the conversion of renewable resources, mainly on creating bio-based amines.
